This post is dedicated to Bilal Husain, Ali Husain, and all with a big dream. Learn this principle at an early age, and the rest is easy. Best wishes. The word “money” here symbolizes success, wealth, fame, income, profit, and other known indicators of success. “Money” is an effect, a result, not the cause or the reason. Here we go… If you follow money, Money will not follow you. Instead, Follow love Follow heart Follow passion Follow purpose Follow value Follow mastery Follow excellence Because money follows the above. ☝️ Let’s take the example of Abdul Sattar Edhi, a Pakistani humanitarian and philanthropist who built the world’s largest volunteer ambulance network and helped save thousands of lives. Edhi’s compassion for humanity started with caring for his mother at an early age. That experience inspired him to begin his humanitarian work in 1947 with just a few hundred rupees by opening a free dispensary with the help of community members. Over the following decades, he helped to save thousands of lives, built a network of humanitarian centers, and created a fleet of one of the largest emergency vehicles. Edhi became highly successful because he followed his heart and his love for humanity. Now, let’s look at Sony, the Apple of its day, and more. Sony once wowed the world with its Walkman VCRs, and TVs have consistently lost market share. Built on the foundation of innovation, Sony went on a cost-cutting spree in the 2000s. It reduced its workforce, closed plants, and cut its R&D and capital expenditures. Even though these measures helped the profits in the short term, they hampered its growth in the following years. Eventually, Sony lost its dominance to Amazon, Microsoft, Nintendo, Samsung, and others. Unfortunately, Sony is not the only company that lost focus of its purpose and pivoted to cost-cutting instead of efficiency. Remember, the goal is always waste elimination, cost reduction is a result. As I work with students and professionals, I continuously experience the misalignment in what people love to do vs what people are actually doing. Nothing wrong with “money”, understand its an outcome or result. Focus on the cause and result will follow. So, let’s teach our kids and us the value of passion and love and pursuing them. It may take longer; however, the results will come. Here is Iqbal on ‘Ishq” Love : Jab Ishq Sikhata Hai Adab-e-Khud Agaahi Khulte Hain Ghulamon Par Asrar-e-Shehanshahi When love teaches the lessons of self-discovery (we know ourselves from the experiences in pursuit of our passion). Then the secrets (and gates) of greatness open even for ordinary people. Cheers
