During the last few weeks, I have been posting about the first step of our transformation program. Step 1: Discover develops an aspiration blueprint and establishes a strategic outlook during the next 3-5 years. This step sets the stage to establish a robust transformation roadmap. Now, let’s move to Step 2: Align. While step 1 is where we are going, step 2 is what we need to do to get there. In my experience, a company can never really transform unless the change is envisioned and mapped out. Therefore, we must put together a detailed transformation roadmap equipped with the right practices and complementing activities to materialize sustainable change. Here are the six elements of step 2: Align:
1. Stakeholder Alignment: Understand key stakeholders and align them to the aspiration blueprint. 2. Skills & Mindset Assessment: Understand the current state of skills and mindset in relation to the aspiration blueprint. 3. Project Portfolio Development: Develop a portfolio of projects and prioritize to achieve aspiration blueprint. 4. Resource Allocation: Understand the resource needs to execute projects and achieve transformation objectives. 5. Governance Structure: Develop proper organization structure and practices to achieve transformation objectives. 6. Communication and Engagement: Communicate change vision, role model change and engage all levels of the organization to achieve transformation objectives.
In the coming weeks, I will write about these elements in detail. Cheers
