Human life is nothing but a combination of choices. From childhood till old age, our choices define not just our life but also who we are. Thus, at the risk of sounding too philosophical, the very distinction between good and evil also lies merely in choices made. The same rule of thumb applies to companies when it comes to decisions. People involved in a business multiple times a day must choose between two or more things that lead to the business’s ultimate efficiency (or lack thereof). Companies must make decision-making a top priority to stay competitive and relevant. The idea is not to make 100% of the right decisions because it is not possible. However, the focus needs to be on analysis and reflection of the results, and that is the more critical. With clarity of objectives, trust, growth mindset and an open organizational culture, all levels of an organization can make informed and effective choices leading to the business’s success overall. We always have a choice – to work in our circle of influence or circle of concern. I choose to focus on my circle of influence. “Life is a matter of choices, and every choice you make makes you” John C. Maxwell.
